Varron’s Story

On June 29th, 2022 Dallas resident, Varron Walton’s home caught on fire.

Firefighters were finally able put the fire out but Varron’s home was destroyed and structurally unsafe.

The damage from the fire was severe and unfortunately Varron didn’t have insurance so currently he is homeless.

Our Goal

About Down to the Foundation

Brothers, Jason & Jared Hulcy first got the idea to utilize their load bearing wall removal business to help those in need in December of 2016,when a terrible tornado ripped through the Dallas area devastating whole neighborhoods in Rowlett and Garland, as well as others.

Jason and Jared, along with their 2other brothers, volunteers from church, and men that worked for them went door to door for 2 weeks volunteering to help tarp peoples roofs for free.

They finally knocked on the door of a gentleman named Jimmy who did not have any insurance and had significant damage to his house.

Over the next five months with tons and tons of volunteer hours committed, materials donated, services rendered by generous contractors, they built Jimmy’s house and shop back to pre-storm conditions. It was an incredible site to behold, people banding together to serve others sacrificially… No personal game other than the joy you get from giving to someone else.

Since that time Jared & Jason  have looked for opportunities to serve in this way, helping people with construction. In 2021 Jason and I started Down To The Foundation, a non-profit to help those in need around us with major construction needs.

Matt 7:24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

That is really the main focus of DTTF, to serve others by showing Jesus Christs love for them through our actions. We want to both help them with the physical foundation and building, all while pointing them to the fact that Jesus Christ is the only foundation for their spiritual life. That way when the winds of life blow hard, their spiritual house will stand strong on the rock of Jesus Christ and His shed blood for them.
